Guitar is a versatile instrument. The 'classical' guitar technique
is a base that will be useful, apart from for the classical guitar
itself of course, to go into all directions: Flamenco, chords and riffs
for vocal accompaniment and popular music in general, electrical
guitar & steel-string guitar, ukulele and bass guitar. I teach the
guitar to
beginners and advanced students.
Piano, keyboard and accordion
To beginners and not-yet-that advanced students I teach the piano / keyboard and accordion as well.
Piano is an instrument that sounds well relatively quickly when you just start out and because of that it's a very apt instrument to start with for young children. It's a very comprehensible instrument as well. Playing the piano, it's relatively easy to learn to read music and play polyphonic music. And it is used often for teaching theory and solfeggio.
Keyboard literally is a keyboard like the one the piano has, with electrical amplification. It's often used to play in bands
because apart from piano you can make different sounds with it as well.
Accordion is a very independent
instrument because on the accordion you can play melody and accompaniment at the same
time. But it can be used as well to play just a melody or just an
accompaniment.
I know what is a good posture, how to play scales and how to make good fingerings. I have a collection of good and nice methods and pieces in which reading music and theory develop at the same time as playing. As soon as a certain level is reached, if necessary, I can help to find the right teacher in order to keep on growing.
Playing together
Guitar, ukulele and piano/keyboard are so-called harmonic instruments (on which you can play chords), because of which you can use them as accompanying instruments. Bass guitar is the instrument that connects harmony with the rhythm in ensembles and bands. Accordion is a harmonic instrument (left hand, buttons), as well as a melodic instrument (right hand, keyboard).
If you want to play a certain piece or song, we can try to to find
the other instrumentalist or singer. If you want to bring a friend:
nice! We can see together what the possibilities are.
If you just want to play by yourself that's ok as well. And if you don't really know so well yet then we can just try something every now and then.
Presentation
Twice a year a presentation will be organized in the form of a student concert or group lesson. The idea is that every student participates.
Duration and price of the lessons
Normally I start with weekly private-lessons of 30 minutes. The school year is grouped in 4 periods of 10 lessons each. During the school holidays there are no lessons.
The minimum fee of a competent private-teacher is established at € 45 by the KNTV from the 1st of January 2021 onwards (see here..). That's the fee I charge.
